AQL inspection gives buyers and factories a consistent way to evaluate a shipment using a representative sample. It does not create quality by itself; it verifies whether production meets an agreed standard.
What AQL measures
An inspection plan uses the order size, inspection level and selected AQL to determine how many units to inspect and how many defects can be accepted. Garment programs normally separate critical, major and minor defects.
Define defect classes
Critical defects create safety or legal risks. Major defects affect saleability or function, such as measurements outside tolerance, open seams or incorrect branding. Minor defects are smaller workmanship issues. Agree examples before production.
Inspection begins earlier
Final AQL should be the last verification, not the first quality activity. Fabric inspection, first-piece approval, in-line audits and measurement checks catch problems while correction is still practical.
Respond to a failed inspection
Identify the failure pattern, isolate affected goods and agree corrective action. Rework should be followed by reinspection and root-cause review so the same issue does not recur.
